Instituting a No Name Calling Week can be a great way to tackle the problem in your school and bring a community together. Get your students involved in the following activities during such a week.

No Name Calling Week Activities

Name calling, and bullying in general, is a major problem in schools across the world. It has a huge impact on the confidence of kids, and that in turn affects their success in life. When students have a low opinion of themselves, it can have negative consequences. When students are badly bullied, it can even lead to suicide - young people are among the most at risk. We can fight name calling by instituting a name calling week at our schools. GLSEN in particular organizes a name calling week in January each year, however your school can use different dates.

There are many activities that students can take part in during a name calling week. Name calling weeks can include introductory and educational videos, badges and stickers the students can wear to show solidarity, personal reflections, artistic expression, media analyses, and more. In this lesson, we'll go into more detail about some of the possible activities you can include in a name calling week. Let's take a look.
