Online marketing can take many forms and has several advantages, including reaching new customers, expanding the awareness of your products and services, and increasing sales.

What are advertising strategies?

A marketing strategy is a plan to make consumers aware of a product, build the need for the product, and encourage them to take action in regard to the item. Online advertising strategies have the same purpose, to educate online consumers and persuade them to buy a product or service. These advertisements may be through social media, online ads, or on blogs or other information websites. Use the methods and examples below to improve online advertising for your offerings to current and potential customers.

Methods and Examples

With the growth of online and social media options, there are powerful and immediate ways to advertise to consumers. Some of the most common methods and avenues include:

Pay Per Click

Let's imagine you sell handmade jewelry and want to market your items online. You heard about 'Pay Per Click' advertising, a way to advertise on Google. You learn that you can identify specific factors to select a target market of consumers that may be interested in your jewelry.

For instance, you may chose women ages 30-45, have a household income of $50,000 or more per year, and who have purchased jewelry online before. Your Google ad will appear to women who are using Google and fit the criteria you have set up. Each time someone clicks on your ad, Google charges you an advertising fee.

Blog Posting

You also decide to create a blog to talk about jewelry and other topics that are interesting to your customers. By posting several times a week, you build a strong following of readers who like jewelry and are interested in what you have to say. You also post ads for your jewelry on your blog so that your readers can click to order products.

Likewise, you find other blogs and websites that have topics that appeal to the same demographic you are reaching, such as makeup, women in business, or fashion sites. If those blogs offer advertising, you can purchase space on their blog sites and place your ad for their readers to see. This will help expand your reach to potential customers.

Social Media Marketing

Knowing the growing power of social media, you set up Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram accounts to connect with jewelry wearers. As your community grows, you have more power to advertise new items and see sales from your followers. You can also purchase online ads that promote a specific item or encourage new people to visit and like your page.
