Instructor: Abby Federico

This lesson will teach you about Peter, one of the main characters in ''The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe''. You will learn who Peter is, how he acts, and about his accomplishments throughout the book.

Who is Peter?

Peter Pevensie is one of the main characters in the book The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. He has three younger siblings, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy. Peter is a good big brother and always tries to protect his younger brother and sisters. Have you ever been nervous about something but did it anyway? Then you sound like Peter! Peter is very brave, even when he is afraid.

Peter in Narnia

When Peter's younger sister, Lucy, tells him about entering the world of Narnia through the wardrobe (or closet), Peter doesn't believe her at first. He thinks that she has been using her imagination to make it up, but later apologizes for not believing her. When Peter finds out Edmund lied about entering Narnia, he is very angry with Edmund for lying and blaming Lucy for lying.

Meeting Aslan

Edmund sneaks away to find the White Witch while Peter, Susan, and Lucy are on their way to meet Aslan the lion. Aslan is a king or god figure in the world of Narnia. When Peter meets Aslan he likes him right away. Even though the kids are in awe of Aslan, Peter is the leader of the group and is the first to speak to him. Aslan promises Peter to help save Edmund from the White Witch. Peter also learns that one day he will become High King of Narnia. Peter also admits to Aslan that he was angry with Edmund, and that may have caused Edmund to leave. This shows that Peter is willing to admit when he makes a mistake.

Peter learns that Susan is in trouble and goes to help her. He finds a wolf named Fenris is attacking her, and even though he is afraid, he comes to her rescue. Peter had been given a sword by Father Christmas earlier in the book, and uses the sword to kill the wolf. Even though Peter was so afraid that he felt sick, his actions show how brave he is. Aslan then gives Peter the name 'Sir Peter Fenris-bane,' which recognizes Peter's bravery for killing Fenris.

Battle with the White Witch

Aslan and the children begin planning a battle with the White Witch. Aslan says that Peter will be the General of his army, which means that he will be the leader. As Aslan goes to rescue Edmund, Susan and Lucy follow him. Peter stays behind to prepare for battle.
