Use this unit plan to guide students of any age through the process of photosynthesis. Starting out with an overview of plant anatomy and life cycle, you can help students build a framework before learning the ins and outs of photosynthesis.

Photosynthesis Plans

Photosynthesis can be as simple or complex as you want to make it. Therefore, this unit plan can be utilized with any grade level, from Pre-K to 12th. First, you'll begin with laying the foundation to help your students understand the structure and function of a plant. After some engaging activities, you'll launch into the details of photosynthesis. Related activities will help bring the learning to life. Lastly, you can engage students in completion of projects that synthesize and demonstrate their learning. You may even want to extend learning by planting a garden so students can watch the process of photosynthesis take place right before their eyes.
