Warm Up and Preparation

  • Hang images of work by Picasso around your room before students arrive.
  • Start the lesson by having students do a gallery walk around the room to look at the artwork.
  • Ask students to choose their favorite piece, or assign a piece to students so they're equally distributed.
  • Instruct students to discuss:
    • What do you notice about the artwork?
    • What type of work do you think this is?
    • What do you notice about colors, content, and lines?
