Rather than a singular definition, the term accounting actually refers to several disciplines that are highly applicable in specific situations. Applying the right accounting discipline is essential to the creation of accurate records.

Accounting and Its Disciplines

In the lesson entitled, Accounting Disciplines: Descriptions and Definitions, you learned that accounting can generally be defined as the process of collecting, analyzing, and reporting out on an organization's financial performance.
