Onboarding and Orientation

As a manager, finding new employees can be a struggle. Sometimes you might think you've found a great fit but then they leave after only a few months of employment. What strategies can you use to help retain new employees? As you might have read in the lessons, Attracting, Selecting & Onboarding Qualified Team Members, and New Employee Orientation: Function & Characteristics, employee onboarding and orientation can help new employees develop relationships at their new job and last longer in their position.

But, what characteristics are needed for a good onboarding and orientation? You read some great tips in the lesson Designing & Managing the Orientation Process for New Team Members and here we'll put those tips into a checklist. You can use this checklist as you create your onboarding and orientation program for your new employees.
