Prepositional Phrases Lesson Plan

Instructor: Angela Janovsky

Angela has taught middle and high school English, Business English and Speech for nine years. She has a bachelor's degree in psychology and has earned her teaching license.

This lesson plan utilizes an informative video lesson as well as discussion questions and group activities to introduce students to prepositional phrases. The lesson concludes with a quiz and an individual assignment to test the students' understanding.

Learning Objectives

After this lesson, students will be able to:

  • Identify and define prepositions, prepositional phrases and objects of the preposition.
  • Differentiate between an object of the preposition and other objects.
  • Explain the role of prepositional phrases in sentences.

Explain the function of phrases and clauses in general and their function in specific sentences.
