Sometimes, it is the little holidays that offer the most striking educational opportunities. This lesson focuses on teaching kids more about president's day by involving them in crafts.

Why Do President's Day Crafts?

Whether you are a teacher or a parent, at some point, you are likely to hear a child ask, 'What is President's Day, anyway?' For many kids, it simply signifies the middle of winter, the beginning of a school vacation, or just something they hear grownups casually mention. However, President's Day, which began as a celebration of George Washington's birthday, is actually seen as a day to celebrate and honor American presidents past and present. This means that there are plenty of history and civics lessons kids can think about on this day!

One of the best ways to get kids involved in appreciating President's Day is to give them crafts related to the holiday. When kids make crafts, they learn with all of their senses and tend to enjoy their learning, too! The crafts in this lesson will help your students develop a stronger understanding of President's Day.
