Principles of Heredity: Homeschool Assignment

Instructor: Megan Sarkisian
In this assignment, students use Punnett squares to explore outcomes regarding dominant and recessive traits in superheroes.

Assignment Instructions for Students

Use a Punnett square to compare two superheroes. Pick two superheroes, and two superhero traits for each superhero. Decide if each trait is dominant or recessive, and defend your choice for each. Then, select alleles for each trait, and designate alleles to each superhero. Since there are two unique superhero traits for each superhero, each superhero will have four alleles. Then, use Punnett squares for each trait to determine the phenotype ratios for each trait.
