Who Was Robin Hood?

Have you ever heard the story of Robin Hood? A man who stole from the rich and gave to the poor? Robin Hood was a fictional character from old English stories. Robin Hood was said to be from a place in England called Nottingham. Robin Hood was a bandit, or a criminal. Along with his friends, whom he called Merry Men, he would steal from the rich people in town and give the money to the poor people. Robin Hood and his Merry Men were said to have lived in the Sherwood Forest where they would rob wealthy travelers and give the money to people in need. The poor people of Nottingham thought of Robin Hood as a hero. The town sheriff and Robin Hood were always fighting one another as the sheriff tried to capture Robin Hood and his Merry Men. Robin Hood was known for being a very good archer, a person who uses a bow and arrow, which helped him keep from getting captured.

Who Helped Robin Hood?

A group of people that helped Robin Hood on all of his adventures were called his Merry Men. The Merry Men consisted of Little John, Friar Truck, Will Scarlet, Maid Marian, Much the Miller's Son, and Richard of Lee. The Merry Men were very important characters in the Legend of Robin Hood and helped Robin rob the rich, give to the poor, and run from the sheriff.
