  • Tell students they will be learning about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Share prior knowledge, then pass out copies of the lesson Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: Location, Architect & Inductees.
  • Ask students to read the first section, 'Location,' then show them a map. Point out Cleveland, then ask:
    • Why was Cleveland chosen as the location?
    • Why did the civic leaders in Cleveland want the Hall of Fame?
    • What did they do to make sure they received it?
  • Now have them read the 'Architecture' section. If possible, show images of the Hall of Fame inside and out. Discuss:
    • What style did Pei use when creating the structure? Why?
    • What is the building used for?
    • How often are inductees made to the Hall of Fame?
  • Instruct students to read the 'Inductees' section. Discuss the five categories and show images of people who have been inducted. Share prior knowledge and, if possible, share their music. Ask:
    • If you were to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which category would you be in? Why?
    • Which category do you think is the most important? Why?
    • Are there any additional categories they should include?
  • Allow students to read the lesson summary and answer any remaining questions.
