  • Pass a soccer ball multiple ways
  • Make a pass under pressure from defenders

  • soccer balls
  • cones

Curriculum Standards

Use knowledge of language and its conventions when writing, speaking, reading, or listening.

Demonstrate understanding of figurative language, word relationships, and nuances in word meanings.

  • Gather your students around. Explain that today you are going to work on passing soccer balls. Explain that, just like with shooting in soccer, you can pass the ball with any part of your foot or any part of your body, with the exception of your arms below your shoulders and your hands.
  • Ask for a student volunteer. Pass the ball to the student a few times to demonstrate a few passes. Be sure to demonstrate a pass with the inside of your foot, one with the outside of your foot, and one with the laces of your shoe. Explain that the inside of your foot will often deliver the most accurate pass, while a pass made by hitting the ball with the laces will often generate the most powerful pass.
