Socialism: Homeschool Assignment

Instructor: Olivia Miller
This assignment gives history students an opportunity demonstrate understanding of socialism as an ideology, and to apply it to a current issue.

Assignment Instructions for Students

What does it mean to be a socialist? Describe how socialism evolved as an ideology and its core beliefs. Then choose one contemporary issue (e.g. immigration, wealth disparity, or equal rights) and explain the views an ideological socialist may have on the issue. Please include how the socialist may propose to solve that issue. While you may not agree with the socialist point of view, please focus on what the socialist would do to solve the issue, and not whether you find the solution viable or not.

Assignment Rubric for Parents
