Something Wicked This Way Comes Lesson Plan

Build upon a simple book report in your instruction of Ray Bradbury's 'Something Wicked This Way Comes.' This lesson plan uses two informative text lessons to allow students to evaluate their understanding of the book and features key quotes presented for student analysis and discussion.

Upon completion of this lesson, students will be able to:

  • summarize the plot of Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury
  • identify themes and symbols in the book
  • list key characters from the book

Analyze how an author's choices concerning how to structure a text, order events within it (e.g., parallel plots), and manipulate time (e.g., pacing, flashbacks) create such effects as mystery, tension, or surprise.
