Spatial Awareness in Dance Lesson Plan

Tammy teaches business courses at the post-secondary and secondary level and has a master's of business administration in finance.

Students will find this lesson plan fun as they construct a spatial awareness dance. Prior to the activity they will read a lesson, participate in discussion questions and take a quiz.

Learning Objectives

After this lesson students will be able to:

  • Define space and spatial awareness.
  • Identify two types of spatial awareness.
  • Discuss important characteristics of spatial awareness to construct dance moves and prevent injury.

Materials

  • Hard copies of the What is Spatial Awareness in Dance? lesson and lesson quiz
  • Find a two minute video clip of dancers using spatial awareness
  • Computers with Internet connectivity, projector capability and speakers
  • Smart devices, if available
  • Online cloud storage
