Story Map Template

Instructor: Bethany Calderwood

Bethany has taught special education in grades PK-5 and has a master's degree in special education.

Students can use story maps to help increase their comprehension of a text or to plan their own writing. These two templates allow students to visually represent both a basic event map and a map of plot elements.

Story Maps

Story maps are a valuable tool for both reading comprehension and planning creative writing. Readers can increase their understanding of a book or short story by analyzing it in story map form. Writers can plan a complete and cohesive story by including a story map in their pre-writing process. These story map templates can be adapted in detail and complexity to accommodate students in upper elementary, middle, or high school.
