  • identify parts of a story
  • create a plot diagram and label it with story elements from The Giving Tree
  • determine point of view in stories

Materials

  • Copies of the lesson Storytelling: Lesson for Kids
  • Copy of the book The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein
  • Plot diagrams or notebook/chart paper
  • Familiar text, such as fairy tales, nursery rhymes, or picture books your students have read and will recall
