Tim Macy is an American contemporary writer best known for the short story The Brass Teapot. In this lesson, you'll learn more about his life and his most famous work.

A Kansas Native

Tim Macy is an American contemporary author. He was born in Kansas where he attended Neosho Middle School. His father was the principal of the school, and they lived together in Neosho until Tim was 15 years old. The years he spent in middle school were crucial for his writing since those memories were an inspiration for his most recent work, as you will soon learn.

After living in Neosho, Macy moved frequently, living in Colorado, Montana and Michigan. It's an interesting fact that Macy grew up in a family of writers; his dad was also a writer, and his siblings explored both poetry and short story writing.

Not surprisingly, Macy became captivated with writing at a young age. After returning to Kansas, he got an Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of Kansas. Since then he has written a famous short story, screenplays, novels, and plays. He currently lives in Kansas with his wife and his young daughter.

'The Brass Teapot'

If you have ever heard of Tim Macy, then you might be familiar with his most famous short story, 'The Brass Teapot'~. This story was not only Macy's first published work, but it was also the basis for a film with the same title. Macy wrote the screenplay for the film. The movie premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2012.
