Email marketing is the new trend for most companies. This lesson will take a look at the most successful times and strategies for sending email blasts.

What is an Email Blast?

Companies have found that building an email list is a great way to market their brands and products. How many email lists are you a part of? You want to make sure you don't miss out on the sales or specials that your favorite brand is having, so you watch your email for that particular email. An email blast is an email a company sends out to their mailing list of subscribers. It can include specials, updates about the product, coupons and so on.

Mary is the owner of a chain of salons. She has built her email list up and is ready to send email blasts to her subscribers. However, she does not know when to send the email blast. Will people be more likely to read it on the weekend or during the week? Timing will be key for Mary to make sure that her email blast is successful. We will take a look at the best times and days as well strategies for sending email blasts.

Best Times to Send Email Blasts

When are consumers more likely to open an email blast from Mary's company? Before consumers started using their mobile devices for emails, the times to send emails were very different. Companies would want to send emails during the day when people were more likely to be sitting in front of a computer. Now that everyone opens their emails on their phones, that changes the best time to send email blasts. Studies have found that consumers are now more active at night between the hours of 8 pm and 4 am. Not only did more people open emails, but they also had a high rate of actually clicking through the email. Mary should try to set up her email blasts to be sent later at night to capture those consumers that are active during that time.

Best Days to Send Email Blasts

Now that we know a good time of day to send an email blast, let's look at the best days to send them. Are you more likely to open an email blast from a company on the weekend or on a weekday? People probably do not want to receive email blasts on Mondays. They are already having to get back into the groove of working and will be bombarded with work emails. On the weekends people are likely out running errands, attending activities, or they could be at Mary's salon. Weekend activities keep people away from their computers and phones. Keeping this in mind, typically Tuesday through Friday are the ideal days to send email blasts. Mary should try to send her email blasts on these days to try to capture the most from her subscribers.
