The Trojan War is a topic many students have likely heard about but that few have explored in depth. This lesson provides teachers with essay topics based around the Trojan War.

The Mythology of the Trojan War

It's interesting to note that before the mid-19th century, the Trojan War was largely considered to be a myth, even if it was based on actual historical events. The same appears to be true for the city of Troy. However, despite the Trojan War's historical legitimacy, it has inspired many works of literature and has served as a cultural touchstone in a variety of art forms.

The scholarship surrounding the Trojan War is detailed and has its roots in ancient Greek culture. When you assign the following essay topics to students, be sure they have access to reliable and understandable sources.
