Zoo Field Trip Lesson Plan

With this lesson plan, your students will spend a day analyzing animal enclosures in a zoo. They will learn to discuss how zoologists must account for animal behavioral, psychological, and physiological needs in zoos.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this lesson, students will be able to:

  • Describe zoo enclosures in analytic and scientific terms
  • Discuss the influence of animal behavior and psychology on zoo design

  • Access to a zoo
    • Note: If a zoo field trip is not possible, you may adapt this lesson plan to a virtual zoo field trip requiring internet-capable devices.
  • Paper and writing utensils
