How does Study.com Integrate with Google Classroom?

Let's talk about how Study.com integrates with Google Classroom. In an earlier video in this course, we showed you how to activate your Study.com Teacher account with a license code, and how to link that account with your existing Google Classroom. If you haven't already done that, go back to that video first and then proceed here. In this video,

I'll show you how to create Study.com assignments and send them to your Google classroom.

Assigning resources to your Google Classroom

Now that we have created our Google Classroom, we can start assigning resources to our students.

We are going to go through assigning:

  • Lessons
  • Chapters

To view this assignment in your Google Classroom, click 'View'.

Let's head back to Study.com now.

To make the due date in Study.com match the Google Classroom due date, navigate to your dashboard by moving your mouse over the person icon in the top-right of the screen and clicking 'Dashboard' on the menu that appears below.

The assignment will be visible in the 'Recently Created Assignments' box; click on the title for this lesson.

You can also find the assignment by clicking the 'Classrooms' tab on the lefthand navigation bar, and clicking into the appropriate classroom.

When you're in the assignment, you will see the due date listed underneath the lesson title. Click on the pencil next to the due date to edit it. Since I made the due date March 31st in my Google Classroom, I am going to make it match here. Note that this can be up to 6 months in the future.

Assigning a chapter to a Google Classroom

Sometimes you might want to assign a whole chapter to your class at once, instead of creating assignments for each individual lesson. I'll show you how to do this.

Navigate to any course on study.com that you would like to share a chapter from.

I've typed 'earth science' into the search bar and filtered to show courses. I'm going to click on Earth Science 101.

From the course page, click the blue bar containing the chapter name to expand the chapter

Click the link beneath the lessons that says 'Go to chapter [Chapter Name].'

On the chapter page, you will see the same 'Teacher Tools' module on the right that we used to assign from the lesson page.

From here, the process is the same as creating lesson assignments.

Click 'Google Classroom' under 'Teacher Tools'

Note: view 3:01 in video

Select the Google Classroom and click 'Share with Google Classroom'

Note: view 3:15 in video

This will open a new window for Google Classroom.

Just like before, select the class you want to share this chapter with. Select 'Create an Assignment' and click 'Go'. Insert any additional instructions e.g. due date. Since we are assigning all of the lessons in a chapter at once, it might make sense to choose a slightly later due date to give students more time.

When you're ready, click 'Assign'. Now the assignment exists in my Google Classroom, and if I want I can click 'View' to see it.

Let's head back to Study.com now.

To make the due date in Study.com match the Google Classroom due date, navigate to your dashboard.

The assignment will be visible in the 'Recently Created Assignments' box, or you could click the 'Classrooms' button the lefthand navigation bar. I'm going to click into it from my recently created assignments.

In the assignment page, click on the pencil next to the due date to edit this. Note that this can be up to 6 months in the future.
