Preparing for the MCAT exam will come much easier by making a good choice on a test prep book. We've done some of the homework for you and come up with solutions to your needs in this article.

What Makes A Good Prep Book?

For starters, we had to take into consideration the nature of the MCAT. The test underwent a drastic change in 2015, including a complete overhaul of the scoring system and a redesign of the exam sections. Because of this, only the newest editions of books will be suitable; it might be tempting to save a few bucks and buy an older edition, but that simply won't cut it for the new MCAT. We also looked at which books provide numerous practice questions and/or exams.

Kaplan MCAT Complete Review

The seven volume set by the leaders in test prep, Kaplan's MCAT review, written by actual Kaplan instructors, gives you as much info in the books themselves as they do with online supplementary materials. By purchasing this collection, you gain access to three complete practice tests, all designed to emulate the new format of the MCAT exam. The books also contain images taken from Scientific American, perfect companions to your text descriptions. Getting into medical school is never easy, but the Kaplan book will surely help.

Examkrackers Complete Package

This set of books is separated into six volumes, one for each subject found on the MCAT. There are no full-length practice exams contained in these books, but the writers have included review problems at the end of each chapter, making it easy for you to mark your progress.

Sterling MCAT Test Prep

If you are looking for practice questions, Sterling Test Prep offers books for each section of the MCAT with hundreds of examples. While there is no box set available, each book separately will keep you busy for quite a while.
