Entering the Army Reserves With a GED
The general requirements for admission to the Army Reserves do not involve academic qualifications. This means that individuals with a GED can qualify for acceptance to the Army Reserves. Those with a high school diploma may also be eligible for admission.
Additional Eligibility Requirements
There are other factors that are considered when individuals apply to the Army Reserves. Positions that accept applicants with a GED will also expect applicants to meet these eligibility requirements.
The Army Reserves accepts individuals who are permanent residents or U.S. citizens.
The Army Reserves do not accept applicants that are 16 years of age or younger or who are 35 years of age or older.
Medical and Physical Fitness
The Army Reserves only considers individuals that are in good health and meet physical fitness requirements.
Most Army Reserves positions require individuals to take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, and some have additional Army training requirements to fulfill. Other positions may require a degree or special training.
Opportunities That Involve Extra Army Training
Some Army Reserves opportunities involve completing specific training programs offered by the Army or achieving specific score requirements on the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery. Individuals with a GED may qualify for these positions, provided that they fulfill the additional training requirements provided by the Army.
