CSET Passing Rates for Single Subject Exams

The most recent CSET passing rates are for tests taken between September 2012 and July 2013. The data was reported by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC), which administers the CSET exams.

The following table includes passing rates for a sampling of CSET exams that can be taken to earn a Single Subject Teaching Credential:

Multiple Subject Exam Passing Rates

Educators can also take a CSET exam to earn the Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. From 2012-2013, 5,839 teachers took the Multiple Subject CSET with a passing rate of 79.2%.

The CSET Writing exam was also taken by 869 educators. Prospective teachers can use the writing test, along with the Multiple Subject CSET, to meet the state's basic skills requirement. The passing rate for the writing test was 86.2% over this same period.
