While there is only one adult school operating within Fairfield city limits, adults in the area have plenty of options in the surrounding areas. Read on for a list of available schools located in the area.

Fairfield-Suisun Adult School (Fairfield, CA)

Fairfield-Suisun Adult School is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and is a member of the California State Adult School System. The school was founded in 1963 and has been providing a range of services for adult learners since its inception.

Fairfield-Suisun offers basic and secondary education courses, along with career development and parent education classes. In addition to academic offerings, the school also offers personal enrichment classes in subjects such as art and photography that allow adults to explore their interests and expand their skill bases. The school also offers pharmacy technician and clinical medical assistant certificate programs.

In an effort to improve accessibility, the school hosts online registration for some courses and offers classes at several off-campus locations in the Fairfield area.

Vacaville Educational Extension Program (Vacaville, CA)

The VEEP was developed by the Vacaville Unified School District in an effort to provide adult education services to members of the local community.

The featured program at VEEP is the adult diploma program. This initiative is intended for adults who never earned their high school diploma. VEEP also offers workforce development programs that teach valuable career skills to current employees and managers. There is also an ESL program for students who wish to improve their English skills.

For students who cannot find reliable access to class, there is the Vacaville Online Learning Academy (VOLA). All courses taught through the online academy meet California State Standards.

Davis Adult and Community Education (Davis, CA)

Yet another option close to Fairfield, Davis Adult & Community Education offers a host of academic, professional, and personal courses for students of all ages.

Davis offers a comprehensive high school diploma program for adult students. In addition to a bevy of courses in all the essential subjects (math, science, English, etc.), the program also provides student support services such as transcript procurement and an online learning resource portal (LRP) where students can find valuable resources.

The school also offers a pair of career certificate programs that teach important career skills. Students may choose from the pharmacy technician or administrative assistant programs.

Davis also has a number of personal enrichment courses that allow students to study topics such as cooking, music, physical fitness, and more.

For students who need assistance with the English language, Davis offers English as a Second Language (ESL) courses for adults. To enroll in any of these courses, you'll have to take a pre-assessment to see which class level is right for you. There are also specialty English classes that you can enroll in. Available focus areas include reading and writing, pronunciation, and American cultural literacy.

The school also offers parenting courses to adults who have children between the ages of 15 months to a little over 5 years old. Students learn parenting skills while interacting with their children in a preschool environment.

Vallejo Adult School (Vallejo, CA)

Another Solano County option for students living in Fairfield is the Vallejo Adult School.

This school offers both high school diploma and GED preparation programs, meaning that students have a greater degree of flexibility when it comes to choosing an academic path. The school also offers basic adult education.

Students with other ambitions may want to consider the many healthcare professional programs at Vallejo. These career programs prepare students for specific employment in a number of careers, including EMT and phlebotomy technician.

For older (50+) adults, Vallejo Adult School has a couple of physical fitness courses that promote healthy living.

This school also offers a parenting education program, as well as ESL and citizenship classes.
