HESI Test Day Preparation

Study Tips for the HESI

Health Education Systems, Inc. (HESI) tests serve as admissions exams for students applying to various allied health science programs. To make sure you arrive at your testing appointment well-prepared, you might want to consider using some of these tried-and-true study strategies:

Begin Studying Early: It is recommended that you allow ample time to prepare for an HESI exam. Set aside a time each week where you can study for the test uninterrupted.

Take Practice Tests: Taking an HESI practice test will allow you to see which areas you need to improve in and help you measure your progress, not to mention familiarize you with the types of questions you'll be asked.

Get Help from Your Peers: You can speak with professors or fellow students who successfully passed an HESI exam. They can offer advice and studying tips.

Stay Positive: Above all, it is important to maintain a positive attitude and have confidence in your abilities. Your education and study time will give you an excellent foundation to take an HESI test. It should be noted that if you do not pass on the first try, you will be able to take it again.

Test Day Basics

Whether you take the test on-campus or at a testing center, you will need to bring approved photo identification. Acceptable forms include a passport, a driver's license, a state-issued photo identification card, and military identification. In addition, some testing locations require that you bring the receipt of your paid testing fee.

Any personal items you bring with you to the testing center must be stored in a locker during the testing session. Prohibited personal items include cell phones and other electronic devices, study aids, personal calculators, and dictionaries.
