Instructor: Shelby Golden
Find out how to pass your precalculus class with this article. You'll learn what you need to do to study, get the most out of class time and succeed on exams.

Get Ready Before Class

Make sure that you complete any reading assigned by your instructor by the time it is due. Trying to complete a few questions before class is also a good idea. This allows you to pick out any areas you might have trouble with so that you can ask your instructor for help.

Make the Most of Class Time

Attending every class should be a priority. This will allow you to stay up to date on your material and to make sure you don't miss anything important. Speak with your instructor about anything that you don't understand in a timely fashion. If you wait for a few class periods, you might forget what your question was.

Put in Study Time

Your time in class will help a lot, but lectures alone won't allow you to pass your pre-calculus course. Make sure you study on your own. You should anticipate completing 8-12 hours of studying per week, depending on how well you understand the concepts you're working on.

Study time should include solving as many precalculus questions as you can. Complete any homework your instructor supplies and work on the extra questions in your textbook. You should also be taking the time to memorize the various functions you go over in class. Finally, your individual study time should involve correcting any mistakes you make on homework or exams.

Study groups can also prove very useful as you work your way through precalculus. You can work with a group of your fellow students to solve problems and quiz each other on the steps involved in various computations.

Get the Help You Need

If you have trouble understanding a certain subject, don't be afraid to visit your instructor for assistance. He or she is there to help you out, so make sure you reach out as soon as you have a problem. Waiting too long to get help can lead to falling behind in your coursework.
