How to Pass the PSI Real Estate Exam

Instructor: Jessica Munk
PSI real estate exams are used by many states to verify the qualifications of applicants for real estate broker or salesperson licenses. Keep reading to learn where to find practice exams and courses that can help you pass both the national and state-specific portions a PSI real estate exam.

Understand Your State's Exam Content

Because you will be tested on your state's real estate laws and regulations in addition to the more general topics found on the national portion of the real estate exam, you will need to know what statutes your state requires you to be familiar with. This information can be found in candidate information handbooks for each state, which are available for download on the PSI website (

Review Course Materials

Many states have educational requirements that prospective brokers and sales agents must fulfill before becoming eligible to sit for their licensing exams. These can include online or campus-based real estate contracts, finance and economics courses offered by colleges and state-approved real estate schools.

Since these courses are mandated by the state, taking time to review notes and course materials from your studies - along with information included in the candidate information handbook - can help you develop a study plan based on material covered by the licensing exams.

Take a Practice Test

Since PSI delivers the exam, you may want to take one or more practice tests that are administered by the PSI Learning Academy. You can purchase these practice exams one at a time and take them completely online. After you complete the practice exam, you will receive a score report that gives the correct answers and an analysis of your answer choices. Therefore, you can use these exams to help identify your strengths and weaknesses for future study.

Though not approved by PSI, you can also find websites that offer free practice questions or exams that can be used to test your general knowledge and practice answering questions.

Test-prep resources are available from several providers.
