Get Prepared

The Series 66 (Uniform Combined State Law) Exam was designed to ensure you're prepared to act as a securities agent or investment adviser representative. In order to pass the exam, you'll need to successfully answer questions that focus on:

  • Client recommendations and strategies
  • Laws, guidelines and regulations

You can purchase books to help you prepare for the Series 66 Exam through various retailers. Look for books that cover all of the subjects that appear on the Series 66 test in a way that's easy to understand and feature explanations for key terms and concepts. You will be permitted to use a calculator provided by the testing center during the exam. Some questions require you to complete calculations, so make sure you're comfortable working with an electronic calculator.

Exam Score and Registration Info

The exam consists of 110 questions, but only 100 of those count towards your score. To pass, you'll need to have correct answers on a minimum of 75 of the 100 multiple-choice questions. Score information for the Series 66 exam is provided to you as soon as you complete the exam.

Registration can be completed by you or by the firm where you're employed. A fee is required. You'll have up to 120 days to take the exam after you've completed the registration process.
