When Are Ohio Real Estate License Exams Available?

To be licensed as either a real estate salesperson or broker in the state of Ohio, you must pass a licensing exam. Luckily, these are very easy to schedule, as they are available on a consistent basis year round. Regardless of when you are looking to take the exam, there will most likely be a testing time available. Of course, testing slots can fill up, so in order to ensure that you are able to take the exam when you want to, it's best to schedule your exam as far in advance as possible.

Scheduling Your Exam

Let's run through the process for scheduling your Ohio real estate license exam.

Application and Registration

First, you must complete either the real estate salesperson or broker licensing application, demonstrating that you have completed all the educational requirements. After your application is accepted, you will receive a candidate information bulletin from the Ohio Department of Commerce, Division of Real Estate and Professional Licensing.

The candidate information bulletin will guide you through the process of registering for and scheduling your exam. This is something you will do mostly through the testing vendor, PSI Exams. PSI manages the actual testing and testing facilities, so this is who to contact about scheduling.

Before you formally schedule your exam, you can view available testing dates on the PSI Exam website. Start by searching for Government/State Licensing Agencies, then select Ohio, then real estate, and finally your specific licensing exam (broker, salesperson etc.). When you type in your desired city, testing locations will pop up, and you can view available testing times for each. There are testing centers available in Akron, Cambridge, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dublin, Groveport, Toledo, and Troy.

Scheduling, Rescheduling, and Cancellation

Finally, you get to actually schedule your exam. You can schedule up to one day before the exam, but again it may be beneficial to schedule further in advance. If you need to cancel or reschedule your exam, you must do so two full days prior to the scheduled testing time, otherwise you may have to pay the testing registration fee again.
