Elementary Education Praxis Tests

Beginning September 1, 2019, the tests listed below are required to teach elementary school. The qualifying scores are yet to be determined but will be available once the test is required. To pass the Content Knowledge for Teaching (CKT) test, you must pass each subtest. You can take all four tests at the same time or register for subtests separately.

Praxis Scoring and Reporting in Kansas

For tests that include selected-response questions only, unofficial scores will become immediately available when you finish testing. However, sometimes additional analysis is required and you will not be able to view scores upon test completion.

If you test within the state, score reports are automatically sent to the Kansas Department of Education. Outside of Kansas, you will have to enter the Kansas Department of Education (code 7270) as a recipient at the time of registration. You can select up to three recipients to receive free score reports. For those completing educator preparation programs, it's important to also list your college or university as a score report recipient.

If you check your online MyPraxis account, you will be able to access your official scores. Subject area exam scores are usually available 2-3 weeks after close of the testing window. A digital copy will be available within your MyPraxis online account for 10 years after the date of your score report.

Where Can I Take a Praxis Test in Kansas?

Praxis testing sites in Kansas include Hays, Dodge City, Wichita, Manhattan, Emporia, Topeka, and Lawrence. When using the online registration portal, you will select one location for testing, which test(s) you will be taking, and a test date. As a requirement of the Kansas DoE, your date of birth and Social Security number will also be requested upon signup. If you do not enter this information, licensure application processing may be delayed.
