How to Access RICA Test Results
The Reading Instruction Competence Assessment (RICA) test is used by the state of California as part of the certification process for some teachers. Individuals who take this test have some options when it comes to receiving their results.
When individuals register for the RICA test, they can choose to be emailed their results on the score reporting date. All test-takers can access their results through their online accounts on California's Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) Exams website. Test results are available on the scheduled test score release date at 10 pm PST.
Once individuals receive their results via email and/or their online accounts, they can view and print their results.
Accessibility of Written Test Results
As of August 30, 2016, once an individual's test results are put in his or her online account, they are accessible for 2 years.
Accessibility of Video Test Results
An individual who opts to take the RICA video test will receive a PDF score report through his or her online account. This test result information can be accessed for 45 days.
Receiving Score Results After the Score Availability Has Elapsed
In the event that you did not save or print your RICA test results and you need them after they are no longer available on your online account, it is possible to get a copy of your results. You must submit an application form and pay a $10 fee for this service.
Knowing When You'll Receive RICA Test Scores
The CTC Exams website provides a schedule of test result release dates (www.ctcexams.nesinc.com).
Test Score Release Dates for Written RICA Tests
The test score release schedule for the written RICA test operates on a two-week cycle that corresponds with the end of exam testing windows.
Individuals may wait as many as 23 to 24 days for their test results if they tested on the first day of this cycle. Individuals who took the RICA exam on the last day of the testing period will only need to wait 10 or 11 days for their results.
For example, individuals who took the RICA written test between March 26, 2018 and April 8, 2018 would have received their results on April 18, 2018.
Test Score Release Dates for RICA Video Tests
There are only a few deadlines each year for submitting a RICA video exam. For example, during the 2017-2018 testing year, the three video submission deadlines were scheduled for November 3, 2017, March 16, 2018 and June 15, 2018.
Score reporting dates usually fall about 3 weeks after a deadline. The score release date for the remaining June 15 deadline is scheduled for July 6, 2018.
Places That Receive Your Test Results
Test-takers' results are sent to the CTC automatically. When a person registers on the CTC website to create an account and schedule their RICA exam, he/she also provides information about which postsecondary institution he or she attends. RICA results are directly sent to that institution.
There is no verification service for the multiple-choice questions on the written RICA exam. The constructed-response answers and the video examination are eligible for score verification. If test-takers do not feel that their scores are accurate, they can pay a $50 fee and request that their scores be verified.
