The Illinois Licensure Testing System, or ILTS, consists of several exams for licensed educators and license candidates. These exams assess competency, pedagogical knowledge and content proficiency, so passing the appropriate exams is a requirement for approval to teach specific grades and subjects. The ILTS also examines professional readiness for prospective school administrators, counselors, librarians, paraprofessionals and other educational positions.

Preparing for the ILTS can be time- and energy-consuming, especially because you may have to take several exams to earn the licensure you need to teach what you want. has prepared three scholarships to assist you with your studies. Read on to learn about the prizes we have available and how you can apply for this great opportunity!

ILTS Scholarship Awards

Each of our first, second, and third prize winners will receive an award to help support their dream of being an Illinois teacher. will notify the three ILTS Scholarship winners by email or by phone, at the address/phone number provided in the application form. Please note that only scholarship winners will be contacted.

Award Amounts

  • First Prize: $500
  • Second Prize: $300
  • Third Prize: $200

Eligibility Requirements for the ILTS Scholarship

The ILTS Scholarship is open to all candidates who meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States of America.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time the application is submitted.
  • Applicants must be planning on taking the ILTS by April 1, 2020.
  • Applicants must not be a previous ILTS Scholarship winner.

How to Apply

To enter, fill out the online application form for your chance to win one of three awards; only one entry form per applicant will be considered. Your application will also include several composed responses to questions about your aspirations and experiences. For example:

  1. What are your professional goals for the future?
  2. What are your goals for taking the ILTS?
  3. How would winning a ILTS Scholarship help you?
  4. What is the biggest challenge you have had to overcome while preparing for the ILTS?

ILTS Scholarship Deadline

All applications for the ILTS Scholarship must be completed and submitted by April 1, 2020. Any applications submitted after this date will not be considered.

We want to know about your personal journey to becoming a qualified educator, and what passing the ILTS means to you. So, we encourage you to take this application as an opportunity to tell us your story and how winning this scholarship will help you achieve your professional goals. Try to keep these tips in mind as you complete your application:

  • Write with clarity and purpose: Make sure your answer responds to the question succinctly and honestly, while highlighting your unique experience and values.
  • Don't plagiarize: It's impossible to craft an original response by copying the words of another. Don't be afraid to show us who you are with your own writing.
  • Stay focused: We understand that you may have a lot to say about your experiences and dreams but staying on track will help you build your best response. Make sure you stick to the prompt!

All applicants will be asked to provide their name and a photograph, which will be used only in the event the applicant wins one of the three prizes.
