MTTC Scholarship: Application Form & Information MTTC Scholarship

Each Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) is designed to determine whether teachers in Michigan are prepared for careers as effective educators. These exams assess both pedagogical and subject-related knowledge, from computer science to dance. Most teachers in Michigan must pass one or more MTTC test for teaching licensure.

Preparing for these comprehensive assessments takes considerable time and money. To help, has created three scholarships for MTTC test takers. Please see below to learn more about the scholarship eligibility, award amounts, and other important information.

MTTC Scholarship Awards

There are three different levels of MTTC scholarships available. One applicant will be awarded a $500 scholarship for first prize, one applicant will be awarded for $300 for second prize, and one applicant will be awarded $200 for third prize. MTTC Scholarship winners will be notified by email or phone at the address or number provided in the application form. Applicants that are not selected for one of the scholarship awards will not be notified.

Award Amounts

  • First Prize: $500
  • Second Prize: $300
  • Third Prize: $200

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States of America.
  • Applicants must be planning on taking the MTTC by April 1, 2020.
  • Applicants must not be a previous MTTC Scholarship winner.

How to Apply for the MTTC Scholarship

Eligible and interested test takers can fill out an MTTC Scholarship application form to enter for a chance to win one of the three prizes. will consider one scholarship entry per applicant. Applicants are asked to write responses to several questions, such as:

  1. What are your goals for taking the MTTC?
  2. What are your professional goals for the future?
  3. How would winning a MTTC Scholarship help you?
  4. What is the biggest challenge you have had to overcome while preparing for the MTTC?

MTTC Scholarship Deadline

Completed scholarship applications must be submitted by April 1, 2020. Applications submitted after this time will not qualify for consideration.

Tips for Application Responses

No two MTTC applicants are the same, and neither are their entries. We value responses to open-ended questions in the application that demonstrate some or all the following characteristics:

  • Clear and original writing: We want to easily understand what makes your application unique. Do not plagiarize or otherwise use the thoughts of others.
  • Thoughtful responses: We would like to see you've thought carefully about each question and put time into your written response.
  • Responses stick to the prompt: There is a lot to share about test and career goals, but the strongest responses are focused on the prompt.
