TACHS - Product Comparison

Getting a satisfactory score on the Test for Admission into Catholic High Schools (TACHS) is a prerequisite for admission to any Catholic high school within the Diocese of Brooklyn/Queens or the Archdiocese of New York. It's open to all eligible 8th graders preparing to enter high school and is usually held in the fall (early November). It's a test of one's accumulated knowledge in basic academic subjects, such as reading, writing and math.

TACHS scores, along with middle school report cards and previous standardized test scores, will help assist high schools in making admissions decisions. Doing well on the TACHS can also increase your chances of getting a scholarship. Getting good preparation is important, and there are lots of resources out there to help you get ready for the test. Some schools even offer their own TACHS prep courses which usually meet over the summer or on weekends at the beginning of the school year. Check out some of these different resources and see what's right for you.

This is the official website for the TACHS. In addition to news, registration information and materials, you can find a free online version of the TACHS handbook. This handbook contains everything you need to know about taking the TACHS and includes a few sample questions, plus study tips and test-taking tips. Although it does not provide an in-depth review of the contents of the test, all students who register for the test should receive a copy of this handbook.

Test-Preparation.ca offers an online range of practice questions that are self-assessed but free to access and complete any time. While these test questions cover the general subjects and difficulty level of the TACHS, they are not TACHS-specific. However, the website also provides some TACHS test prep tips and strategies to help you with the real thing. For a more TACHS-specific review, you can purchase a downloadable and printable PDF study guide for $19.99, featuring tutorials and more practice questions.
