Texas Real Estate Exam Dates

Scheduling Your Exam

The Texas real estate exam is available by appointment, and it can be scheduled for any day (excluding holidays) as little as 24 hours before the desired test date. Exams can be scheduled either online or by phone. Available test dates may vary, and some testing sites may only offer testing 1-2 days per week, while others offer testing up to 6 days per week. More information on scheduling can be found in the Texas Real Estate Candidate Handbook distributed by Pearson Vue, the company that administers the exam.

Registering for the Exam

Before you're able to schedule the exam, you must register for it. Once your application for the real estate license has been completed and accepted by the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC), the TREC will provide you with a TREC ID. In order to register for the exam, you will need to provide your TREC ID. You will also need to pay the $54 exam fee when you register, either online or by phone. Exam fee payments will not be accepted at the testing center, and walk in exams are not available.

Once you are registered for the exam, you will also need you to set an appointment to be fingerprinted. To do so, you will need to contact Morphotrust, whose information is available in the Texas Real Estate Exam Candidate Handbook. As with registration, your TREC ID will also be required in order to schedule your fingerprinting.

Important Info for Test Day

Be sure to arrive at the testing location at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled exam, and be prepared to present two forms of signed photo ID. You will have 4 hours to complete both sections of the exam and will receive your scores before leaving the testing center.

You'll have 3 attempts to pass both the state and national portions of the exam. After 3 failed attempts, you will be required to earn 30 credit hours of addition real estate coursework before you will be eligible to retake the exam.
