TExES Core Subjects EC-6: Test Dates & Registration

Instructor: Jessica Keys
The TExES Core Subjects EC-6 exam is offered on a continuous basis. Read on to learn more about the registration process and find out how you can select your test date.

TExES Core Subjects EC-6 Exam Dates

This Core Subjects test (and most other tests in the TExES series) is available on a rolling basis. Rather than being required to attend a testing session on select dates, candidates have the flexibility to choose a date from a list of available appointment times. The exact time and date of such appointments depends on the testing centers closest to a candidate.

If you're looking to take the Core Subjects EC-6 test, you can select and confirm your test date after you register.

TExES Registration Process

Registering for TExES tests can be done entirely online. It's a simple process that should take no more than a few minutes, but you should strongly consider signing up well in advance. Spots for TExES tests can fill up quickly, and if you wait too long, you may have to choose a different date than the one you had in mind.

The list below contains a comprehensive step-by-step guide to the registration process.

Step 1: Create an ETS Account

All assessments in the TExES series are now administered by Pearson VUE, replacing the Educational Testing Service (ETS) as of September, 2018. If you have not already done so, you'll have to create an account with Pearson if you intend to sit for an exam.

It's a simple matter to create a one. First, visit the official TExES website (tx.nesinc.com), then navigate to ''My Account'' on the top, right-hand corner. Here, you can log in or create a new account.

Follow the directions to create your account, which requires a permanent email address and password. You will also have to provide your TEA ID number. (You should have received one when you created an account with the Texas Education Agency website.)

Step 2: Review Your Test and Log In

The official website also replaces the Registration Bulletin published by the ETS. Now you can find everything you need to know about your test right here, from current fees and test contents to any important notices or changes in the TExES program.

Before registering, navigate to the Core Subjects EC-6 information page and review the current test details. You can also check for seating availability at a testing center of your choice. When you are ready, click ''Register Now'' at the bottom of this page to begin the process. From here, you can log in, register and schedule your test.

Step 3: Register for the Test

Follow the simple, step-by-step instructions to register for the Core Subjects EC-6 exam. During this process, you can request alternative testing arrangements if needed as well as indicate whether you would prefer to receive your score report in an email.

When you are finished, you'll pay for the exam. Note that you must use a debit/bank card or credit card (Visa or MasterCard only) to pay for a TExES exam. Checks and cash are no longer accepted. As of 2018, the fee for the Core Subjects EC-6 exam is $116 for the entire battery or $58 per subject exam.

Your registration will be valid for 170 days. You must schedule your exam during this period or you will lose your registration without a refund.

Step 4: Schedule the Test

Scheduling or rescheduling an exam appointment may also be done right from your account on the official website. Simply log in and click on ''Schedule or Reschedule''. You will be asked to input a location and a desired appointment date. Pearson will then show you all testing centers near you that offer your exam, along with any open appointment slots. Pick the combination that works best for you and check out.

Step 5: Confirm Your Appointment

Finally, you'll be asked to review all your information one last time. You will also be asked to review and agree to Pearson's testing policies before finalizing your exam appointment. After submitting your request, you will be officially scheduled for the exam! Keep an eye out for an email that will contain all of this information for your reference only; you no longer have to bring an admission ticket to the testing center.

Should you need to reschedule or relocate your exam, you may do this free of charge for up to 48 hours before the test date.
