TExES Math 4-8 Test Dates & Registration

Instructor: Jessica Keys
The TExES Math 4-8 exam is administered throughout the year. Read on to learn how you can register for this exam and select the test date that works for you.

Test Dates for the TExES Math 4-8 Exam

Like the majority of TExES tests, the Math 4-8 exam is offered on a continuous basis, and you can make a testing appointment up to 48 hours prior to an exam date.

Despite this relative scheduling flexibility, you should strongly consider registering as soon as you have an idea of when you want to take the test. If you wait too long, spots may fill up, and you might have to settle for a test date or location that's less than ideal.

Registration Steps

To select your test date of choice, you'll need to complete the registration process, which is explained in detail below.

Create an Online Account

First, you'll need to create an account on the Texas Education Agency (TEA) website in order to receive a TEA ID number.

Once you have this number, you can use it to create an account with Pearson, the company that now administers all TExES exams. If you haven't done so yet, visit the new official TExES website at to create your Pearson account. In addition to your TEA ID, you'll also need to provide a permanent, valid email address, plus a password and a security question.

If you have used an Educational Testing Service (ETS) account in the past to register for your TExES exams, you will still have to create a new Pearson account as the Texas Education Agency is no longer using ETS to administer exams. However, once you create a Pearson account, you will have access to your complete exam history, including any exams you completed with ETS. Your TEA ID and information are unchanged; these changes only affect exam registration and scheduling.

Learn About the Exam

Registration and scheduling are now handled on the official TExES website. When you log in with your Pearson account, you will be able to register for your test at any time. The new website also replaces the ETS Registration Bulletins, so before you register, be sure to check out the details for any exams you plan on taking. Simply click on the word Exams on the official website topbar and navigate to the exam of your choice (in this case, Mathematics 4-8, test code 115).

From here, you can see what's going to be on your exam, what you need to score to pass, current fee information and more. You can even check for seating availability at a testing center of your choice. When you're ready, scroll to the bottom of this page and click the button that says Register Now.

Register and Pay

TExES registration is a simple, step-by-step process. Follow the directions on each page; during this process, you can opt-in for disability accommodations, specify score reporting options and review your registration validity period. On the final page, you'll enter your payment information and check out. The current fee for the TExES Mathematics 4-8 exam is $116, and all payments must be made online with an accepted credit, debit or bank card.

After you have checked out, you can schedule your exam any time within the 170-day validity period.

Select and Confirm Your Test Location and Date

You can schedule your TExES exams from your Pearson account, through the official website. Simply log into your account page and select Schedule or Reschedule.

First, enter a location and the date you would like to test. Hitting the Search button will bring up a list of the Pearson testing centers and open appointments that best fit your search criteria. Select the combination that works best for you and check out; note that if you need to reschedule, you can do this free of charge, for up to 48 hours before your appointment.

As you finalize your appointment, you will be asked to review and agree to Pearson's testing policies. After confirming and submitting your request, you will be officially registered and scheduled for a TExES exam!

You'll soon receive an email that contains all of this information. This email is for your reference only; admission tickets are not required at Pearson testing centers.
