TExES Music Exam Dates

As is the case with most tests that fall under the TExES umbrella, the music exam is available on a rolling basis. TExES exams allow students to pick and choose the dates that work best for them from a list of possible options.

In order to officially select your test date, you'll need to go through the registration process.

Exam Registration

The music assessment (and all other TExES exams) feature a convenient registration process.

Though tests are offered on a continuous basis, you should consider signing up as soon as you're sure you want to take the exam. Registration closes 48 hours prior to the test date, and spots may fill up before the deadline. Waiting too long may cause you to miss out, and you'll have to schedule your test for a later date.

The online registration process is a straightforward one, and the steps are laid out in the list below.

Step 1: Create an ETS Account

All exams are taken through the ETS or the Educational Testing Service.

To create an account, you'll only have to provide your full name, birth date, and TEA ID number. If you are a PACT or Charter School candidate and do not have a TEA ID number, you will be supplied with one. If you've already taken a TExES exam before, your existing username can be used again.

Step 2: Get Started

In order to sign up for a test, you'll be required to comply with all ETS rules and regulations. To begin your application, go to the ETS site and log in. Then, click the register button. You will then be shown a list of registration requirements and compliance statements. Review these conditions, agree to them, and click the next button.

Step 3: Schedule an Appointment

This is the stage where you may officially choose your test date. This stage requires three pieces of information:

  • The test you'll be taking
  • Your location
  • Your preferred testing site.

Once you have provided your location and intended test, you will be presented with a list of potential appointments. Make your selection.

Step 4: Review Selection and Provide Payment

After entering your selection, you'll be shown a rundown of all the information you have provided. Read over this information at least once (maybe even twice) to be certain that all the content is accurate.

Next, you'll be asked to enter your payment information. The test fee for the music exam is $131.

Step 5: Confirm

One last time, you'll be shown all information and asked to ensure its accuracy. After making sure that everything is in order, you can click the next button to officially submit your registration.

On the next page, you'll be presented with your admission ticket. This document serves as proof of your registration. Be sure to save and print a copy, as you will not be allowed to enter the testing site without this ticket.
