TExES PPR Exam Dates

The TExES PPR exam is held on a consistent basis throughout the year. Out of the available testing times, you can schedule an appointment for your exam at a time that works best for you. To do so, you'll need to complete the registration process.

Exam Registration

While the TExES PPR exam is offered throughout the year, it is strongly recommended that you register as soon as you know when you wish to sit for the exam. Spots can fill up quickly, and if you wait too long, you may need to choose a later testing date.

Starting September 1, 2018, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) will no longer use the Educational Testing Service (ETS) website for TExES registration and scheduling. All TExES program tests are now administered by Pearson, which also maintains a new website at tx.nesinc.com.

Through this website, you can register for and schedule your TExES tests. You can also find the most current information about every TExES program test (including the PPR) and check for seating availability any time, even before you register.

The list below contains a step-by-step explanation of the registration process.

Step 1: Create a Pearson Account

Pearson now handles all aspects of TExES testing, from registering to proctoring. If you have not already done so, you will first have to create a new Pearson testing account through the official TExES website (tx.nesinc.com). Visit the website and select Sign In, where you will be given the option to sign in or create a new account.

To create your account, all you'll need to begin with is a permanent email address and a password. You will also provide an answer to a security question. Next, you'll be asked to input your full name, date of birth and your TEA ID number, which you should have received when you created an account with the TEA. If you are a charter school or PACT candidate and do not have a TEA ID number, you will be asked to provide more information so you may be admitted to the testing center.

Step 2: Research the Test

Now that you have a Pearson account, you'll have access to all features on the official TExES site. After you sign into your account, you may begin the registration process by clicking the word Register on the website top bar.

However, it is recommended that you first check out the details for your exam. The official website serves as a replacement for the TExES Registration Bulletins and contains the most current information for each exam in the program. Simply look up the exam you need to take and review the details carefully. You may also use Pearson's seat availability tools to find your nearest testing center and see if there will be any appointment openings on the day you want to take the test.

Step 3: Register for the Test

When you are ready, you can begin the online registration process any time. The steps are simple and straightforward:

  1. Select the exam you want to take from a drop-down menu.
  2. Indicate whether you will need to make alternative arrangements to accommodate a disability. Note that if you need to do this, you should not schedule your exam until after your request has been approved.
  3. Review the time frame you will be given to schedule your exam.
  4. Answer two survey questions about your language preferences. These questions will not be recorded in your profile or exam results; they will be used by Pearson to evaluate exam contents.
  5. Specify whether you wish to receive your score report by email. Score reports may also be accessed through your Pearson account.
  6. Review your order.

Step 4: Payment

Next, it's time to enter your payment information. As of 2018, the test fee for the PPR exam is $116. You must pay with a debit/credit card (Visa or MasterCard). TExES no longer accepts cash or checks for exam payment.

Step 5: Schedule the Test

After you register and pay for the exam, you will have 170 days to schedule it. You may also reschedule/relocate your exam free of charge, for up to 48 hours before your appointment.

You may do either by logging into your Pearson account and selecting the Schedule or Reschedule option. Simply input a location and a test date and Pearson will show you all available appointments at the testing centers closest to your specified location. Select the testing center and appointment that work best for you and check out.

Step 6: Confirmation

After reviewing your selections, you must agree to all of Pearson's testing rules and policies before confirming and finalizing the appointment. Then, your appointment will be officially scheduled.

You will receive an email from Pearson that contains your registration and scheduling information, which you may also review online in your Pearson account. This is only for your personal reference; Admission tickets are no longer required at the testing center.
