TExES PPR Test Registration Information

Registering for the PPR test is a multi-step process that must be completed online. Read on for a step-by-step walk-through on how to reserve your spot for this assessment.

How to Register for the TExES PPR Test

Students looking to register the TExES PPR will need to do so online. Though the test itself is administered by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), registration and scheduling are now carried out by Pearson-VUE on the official TExES website, at tx.nesinc.com. These services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so you'll be able to register or set an exam appointment whenever it's most convenient for you.

The registration process is fairly straightforward, but it does include many steps. The following list contains a detailed walkthrough to help you navigate the process.

Know Your Test

Before you even get started, it's best to learn about which test(s) you need to take. It can also help to plan when and where you should take the test. Conveniently, you can now do all of this from the official TExES website, anytime, anywhere. This website replaces the Educational Testing Service (ETS) and contains all of the resources to help you get the information you need. Every TExES exam, including the PPR exam, has its own information page where you'll find the latest in exam policies, fees, scoring, content breakdowns and more. You can also use Pearson's seat availability tool to locate a testing center near you and check for appointment vacancies. While you can do this anytime, it is recommended that you do this before registration to avoid scheduling conflicts.

The official TExES website also replaces the former ETS Registration Bulletins; everything covered on the Registration Bulletins may now be found on the official website.

Register with Pearson

Now that you know when and where you'll be testing, it's time to get started. If you are new to the Pearson system, the first step is to create a Pearson testing account through the official website. When you create an account, you'll need to provide your TEA ID number, along with a permanent email address, a password and an answer to a security question. After you establish your Pearson account, you will be able to access your complete TExES testing history.

Register for the Test

Once you've logged in with your account, look at the official website topbar and find the link labeled 'Register.' Here, you will begin the registration process. At a glance, you will:

  1. Select the exam you need to take; you may only choose from exams for which you are eligible.
  2. Specify whether you need to make alternative arrangements to accommodate a disability. Note that all Pearson testing centers are wheelchair accessible and allow for many medical/comfort aids and mobility devices without the need to obtain prior approval.
  3. Answer two survey questions about your home language. These are only used by Pearson to evaluate test items and are not recorded in your registration or profile.
  4. Indicate whether you would prefer to receive your score report by email. Your score report will also be available on your Pearson account after 10 PM (CT) on the score reporting day.
  5. Pay for the exam. As of 2018, the cost for the TExES PPR exam is $116.

When you are finished, you can schedule your exam. This may be done any time, as long as you set an appointment within 170 days of submitting your registration.

Schedule a Test

You can schedule (or reschedule) your exam by logging into your Pearson account and selecting Schedule or Reschedule.

After selecting the exam(s) you wish to schedule, you can use the search tools to locate the nearest testing center and find out if there are any open appointments on a specified date.

Choose the testing center/appointment combination that works best for you, then check out. You will then be asked to review and agree to Pearson's testing policies before confirming your appointment.

Confirmation

After you confirm your appointment, the registration process is officially complete. You will receive an email containing all of your information, which you may keep for reference purposes; the new Pearson system no longer requires that you print an admissions ticket and bring it to the testing center.

If you need to reschedule your exam, you may do so from your Pearson account within 48 hours of your appointment, free of charge.

Congratulations! You've successfully registered for the TExES PPR exam. Good luck!
