VCLA Test Dates
The Virginia Communication and Literacy Assessment (VCLA) is used to certify teachers in the state. The tests are administered by Pearson VUE and are offered at approved test sites across the country. There are test times available typically from Monday through Saturday. Test times are not available on some holidays.
Locating a Test Site
A VCLA app enables users to find test centers close to their location. The app can be accessed through a link on the VCLA web page about test times and locations (www.va.nesinc.com) or through the Pearson VUE website (www.pearsonvue.com).
Individuals can put in their zip code, a street address or the name of a city or town. The app will present a list of approved test sites that are close to the location that's been indicated. If you're simply looking for information on where test sites are located, you can use this app.
Finding Available Test Times
The VCLA website also has a link to the Pearson VUE app for finding the times that VCLA tests are offered. This app allows individuals to search for testing appointments for the full VCLA test or for each subtest separately.
The objective of this app is to locate times when space is still available. Prospective test-takers will not see a full list of all times the test or subtest is being offered; they will see a list of testing appointments offered at nearby testing locations that still have seats available. Here's how it works:
Step 1: Select the Test You Wish to Take
The first thing that you need to do to find an available test time is choose which test or subtest you want to schedule.
Step 2: Select Your Preferred Location
Once you select your test, you must provide information about your preferred test location by entering a zip code, city and state or street address. You will receive a list of possible test locations near your chosen location. You can select 3 of those test sites.
Step 3: Select Your Preferred Test Date and Time
Once you have selected up to 3 test sites, the app will produce a calendar of dates when the test can be taken at each site. You can then choose a date and the app will produce a list of times it is possible to take the test or subtest on that date at that location.
Flexible Testing Schedules
The VCLA is offered on a flexible schedule. It is not limited to a few specific starting times. Examples of possible starting times for taking the VCLA test include:
|9:00 am||9:15 am||9:30 am||9:45 am|
|10:00 am||10:15 am||10:30 am||10:45 am|
|11:00 am||11:15 am||11:30 am||11:45 am|
|12:00 pm||12:15 pm||12:30 pm||12:45 pm|
Securing Your Space
You must register and officially schedule your VCLA exam time to have a testing appointment secured. Available test times are not guaranteed to individuals who have not scheduled their exam. The VCLA website has an account system where individuals can register and schedule their VCLA test.
VCLA Test Resources
Before you schedule your VCLA exam, you need to thoroughly review the material that is covered in each subtest. This Virginia Communication & Literacy Assessment: Practice & Study Guide is designed to help individuals prepare for both subtests. The VCLA - Writing: Practice & Study Guide and VCLA - Reading: Practice & Study Guide resources are geared towards each of the subtests that make up the VCLA. These study courses are self-paced and contain several short lessons that are designed to ensure individuals have covered the right material before their test dates.
