WEST-E Test Fees

The total costs of taking a WEST-E exam is comprised of the test fee and the test registration processing fee. Most WEST-E tests have a standard fee of $120 plus a $35 registration processing fee, which means the total cost comes to $155. This applies to the following WEST-E tests:

Tests With Different Fees

There are a couple of WEST-E exams with different fee rates.

For the WEST-E Middle Level Humanities Subtests 1 and 2 (English, Language Arts, Reading and Social Studies), you can opt to take 1 subtest at a time or both subtests at the same time. The fees you will pay depend on which option you choose.

The Designated World Languages WEST-E exam costs $60. It also has the standard $35 registration processing fee, so the total cost is $95.

Payment & Accepted Methods

Every person planning to take a WEST-E test must create an account on the WEST website. Once you do this, you can register and pay for your exams through your account.

The online account system accepts cards with a VISA or Mastercard logo. This includes check cards, credit cards and debit cards. It is also possible to use a voucher through the online registration system. If none of these options are viable, it's possible to pay by check if you contact Pearson, the company that administers the West-E exams.


Test fees are refundable as long as individuals cancel at least 24 hours before a scheduled test date. The registration processing fee is non-refundable.

If you have scheduled an exam, the first step you have to take is to select the reschedule option in your online account. After this, you can follow the prompts to cancel the scheduled test. This must be done at least 24 hours prior to your test time. After the test is canceled, you can request a withdrawal. Refundable fees are returned after a withdrawal request is submitted. It can take up to 4 weeks to receive a refund.
