Praxis Test Requirements for Elementary Education

Elementary teachers work with students in grades 1 through 6 and typically teach several subjects throughout the school day. Praxis tests are required for elementary teacher certification in many states, and even some territories. The specific Praxis testing requirements vary from state to state, so this article looks at the Praxis tests commonly used and notes examples of some of the states that require the Praxis tests discussed.

Each state has different testing requirements for teachers. Some states, such as Alaska, offer students several options for satisfying their content knowledge testing requirements. It is important to check your state's certification test requirements to confirm which tests you are required to take.
