About This Chapter
Adding, Subtracting, Multiplying & Dividing Decimals - Chapter Summary
These fun, five-minute videos bolster 3rd through 5th grade students' comprehension of working with decimals in math. Our math instructors break down the complexity of decimal problems into easy to understand chunks to help students get the most out of each lesson. These lessons cover the fundamentals of decimals, including place value and ordering decimal numbers, as well as solving arithmetic problems. If your students have a question about the lessons, they can submit it to our instructors. After they've watched these video lessons, have your students take the chapter exam to review what they have learned.

1. What is a Decimal Place Value?
In this video lesson, you will see how a decimal, a simple dot, can change the place value of all the digits in a number. You will also learn how to read decimals using place values.
2. Representing Decimals Through Illustrations
In this lesson we will briefly review decimals and the relationship to place value. We will learn how decimals can be represented in illustrations, specifically using a grid.
3. Comparing and Ordering Decimals
In this video lesson, you'll find out how you can look at any two decimals and immediately tell which is greater than the other. You'll also learn how to quickly sort decimals from least to greatest or vice versa.
4. Changing Between Decimals and Fractions
In this video lesson, you will learn about the usefulness of knowing how to change quickly between decimals and fractions. You will also learn how changing from a decimal to a fraction is different than changing from a fraction to a decimal.
5. Solving Number Sequences Involving Decimals
We work with decimals when we see prices at the store and count money, and sometimes we use decimals when we take measurements. In this lesson, we'll focus on completing number sequences involving decimals.
6. Practice Completing Addition and Subtraction Sentences with Decimals
Decimal numbers occur in many different contexts. It is important to know how to use them in basic operations, such as addition and subtraction. In this lesson, you will practice adding and subtracting decimal numbers.
7. Practice Adding Three or More Decimals
This lesson gives a short and easy way to add 3 or more decimals. It explains step by step how to set up a decimal addition problem and how to do the problem. It also explains some new words that you should know when adding decimals.
