ASSET Reading Skills: Reading Comprehension - Chapter Objectives

The ASSET Reading Skills exam is used to assess your ability to understand and apply reading comprehension methods. The Reading Comprehension chapter generally supplies you with the basic information needed to sit for this exam. Questions relating to the material covered in this chapter are mainly found in the reasoning portion of the exam, which accounts for 50% of the entire test.

ASSET exams are student placement exams used by hundreds of community and technical colleges across the country. The ASSET Reading Skills exam is part of the Basic Skills exams and is designed to demonstrate a student's understanding of various types of writing, such as business, fiction and essay pieces. Students will read three passages and answer corresponding multiple choice questions. The test is paper-based and is used to determine one's skills only; there is no required passing score for this exam.
