Who's it for?
This unit of our High School Chemistry Homeschool course will benefit any student who is trying to learn about typical lab safety practices and chemical testing methods. There is no faster or easier way to learn about experimental laboratory chemistry. Among those who would benefit are:
- Students who require an efficient, self-paced course of study to learn about chemistry lab safety, lab equipment and test methods for chemical identification.
- Homeschool parents looking to spend less time preparing lessons and more time teaching.
- Homeschool parents who need a science curriculum that appeals to multiple learning types (visual or auditory).

How it works:
- Students watch a short, fun video lesson that covers a specific unit topic.
- Students and parents can refer to the video transcripts to reinforce learning.

Working safely and collecting accurate data are the two most important parts of working in a chemistry lab. This lesson will give tips so you can succeed in both areas.
2. Chemistry Lab Equipment: Supplies, Glassware & More
When you bake a cake, you use different tools for each step in the process: a bowl for mixing, cups for measuring ingredients and an oven for baking. In this lesson, you will discover the name and purpose of many of the different tools that are used in the chemistry lab.
3. How to Identify Chemicals in Solution: Test Methods & Materials
Do you have a mysterious solution sitting around? Learn to identify it using one of the following methods: through precipitation, using conduction, using a flame test, using an acid-base indicator and observing the color of the solution.
