HiSET: Economics & Geography - Chapter Summary

Economics and geography questions account for nearly a quarter of the questions on the HiSET Social Studies exam. The bite-sized video lessons in this chapter provide a fun way to arm you with the information you need. You will cover:

  • Economic activity before, during and after the Industrial Revolution
  • Global regulations on economic activity
  • Impact of domestic trade policies
  • Expansion of the global economy

A short quiz follows each lesson so you can practice using the information you've covered and evaluate your understanding of the concepts. If you don't understand a topic, you can link back to it from the quiz or use the video timeline to seek out areas that you want to review.

Objectives of the HiSET: Economics & Geography Chapter

The HiSET is a high school equivalency exam with five subtests, including social studies. Of the 50 questions on the Social Studies HiSET, roughly three focus on geography and about nine focus on economics. The remaining questions are divided evenly between history and civics/government. You will have 70 minutes to complete the exam.

The multiple-choice lesson quizzes in this chapter mimic the HiSET question format. Use them to get acclimated to answering HiSET-type questions and evaluate your test-taking pace.
